Emotional Numbness in Autism Parenting: A Hidden Sign of Overwhelm

 (When You’re Not Angry — You’re Just Tired of Feeling) Not all overwhelm looks explosive. Sometimes it looks quiet. You’re not yelling. You’re not crying. You’re not panicking. You’re just… flat. The meltdown happens. You respond mechanically. You clean up. You move on. No tears. No fight. No energy. Just exhaustion without emotion. That’s not strength. That’s nervous system shutdown.
